[Malik would kill him. He'd absolutely murder him. But, on the other hand, if that gold thing was a Millennium Item... he really didn't want it in either of their hands.]

[Leaning in menacingly, his voice low.] Why would I be anything less than serious?

[Because he could never tell when you were serious. And he really hoped you weren't now. Gah...]

I can't take it at night, then. He pretty much sleeps with it since the building vanished, so he'd know it was me.

I could drug his food, I guess.

...? Why would he know it was you, unless you were obvious and got yourself caught or--ohhh... I see. You must live together! Well...this makes things more interesting.

My Akh was serious about using that boy for his purposes, wasn't he? H-heh...well too bad! I'll be using him for my purposes now.

[He waves a hand dismissively at Ryou, all too amused by this revelation.]

Whatever you do, be back here tomorrow with the Millennium Rod, or our lessons end, do you hear me?!

[Getting up, he heads towards the door, all too grateful to be away from this guy.

Stealing the Millennium Rod...? How could he do something like that to Malik? The guy could at least have given him some tips!

But that said, there was a part of him that was pretty good with traps. He had set up the original Occult Deck and the Monster World set that the spirit had used, after all. He just had to be sneaky. Malik wouldn't suspect something like his from him, after all.

Sorry, Malik-kun! Sometimes you have to make use of unsavory people and underhanded methods for the best.]

...One more thing. [He straightens up, grinning over at Ryou.]

Make sure my Akh doesn't know about this, or your stealing the Rod, understand? He'd just try to take it back, and then where would I be?! Forcing you to steal it a second time! It'd only be more difficult... And you don't want that, do you~?

[He looks over his shoulder, giving the thief king a surprisingly calm look.]

I don't tell him anything at all, anyway. I can't help it if he guesses, but I can make sure he doesn't find out from me.

[Besides... if he could figure out how to use the Rod before he has to hand it over, he can just find out what this guy is holding out and return it to Malik later.]

[He flopped back into his nest, chuckling to himself. Things were finally starting to come together! Who knew it would be his Ba that would prove most useful after all?]

[He didn't need much urging. Leaving the room, he headed straight for the nurse's office, and found it luckily empty. Finding what he wanted was relatively simple.

Malik had reacted pretty poorly to the painkillers he'd taken before, so he had a pretty good idea of just how low his tolerance was. Definitely not high-strength, then...

Aha. Stealing a packet of Benadryl, he headed back to the apartment to put his plan into motion.]

[Malik was back at the apartment, sitting at the counter and eating some leftover koshary. He seemed pretty content, even in the relative silence of their empty dorm room.

He'll have to leave to training soon, right after he finishes up lunch...]

[Well, speak of the devil. The sight of him made his heart ache with guilt, and he hadn't even done anything yet. He smiled regardless, lifting a hand in a carefree wave.]

Good afternoon, Malik-kun! [Eh? He stared at the food. His motherly side was kind of concerned by Malik's lack of initiative.] Are you just eating leftovers? That doesn't seem like it'll be very filling.

Hey. [He greeted the boy with a nod, turning back to his food.]

It's enough. I'm not that hungry anyway. [He knew he'd be really hungry later after training, so he might as well save the effort of cooking until then...

That and Ryou wasn't home to cook when he'd been hungry. So, leftovers.]

Are you sure? I can make you something quick, if you have to be somewhere. It's not healthy to under-eat, you know?

[Really, with a butt that flat, Malik needed all the food he could get.]

[Ryou was offering to cook something else? That was a little surprising, since he already had food, and it's not as if he were starving.]

Keh keh, sure...why not? It's not like I'm going to complain~ But I can assure you, I wasn't "under-eating".
