Hey, Malik-kun!

[First thing was first. He needed to cover up the wound to his neck again. Explaining this would be a pain.]

Can you help me out in a minute or two? I wanted to get the bed sorted out properly, but I can't do it by myself.

[Just going to head into the bathroom, trying not to draw attention to himself.]

Hey. [He blinked, looking up from the set. Ryou's sudden request and even more sudden departure threw him off, and he just sat there a moment before calling back.]

Yeah, sure. I already hit my head on the stupid thing once today...

Sorry, if it's sudden! I've been meaning to ask since we moved, but I keep forgetting. Maybe I should start writing lists of things to do.

[Washing out the wound stung, but it felt a lot better once he'd finished, sterilized it and bandaged it up. Ugh, he couldn't believe that guy... What a creeper. When he came out, he quickly disappeared into the bedroom to change his shirt for one with a higher collar, to hide it. It wouldn't last long, but he didn't feel like explaining.

Once that was done, he reappeared in the living room.]

Need help setting that up?

If you're that forgetful, it might be a good idea.

[His tone was lightly teasing, even distracted as he continued to fiddle with his pieces.]

No. If you help, you'll know what I'm planning. I'm the Dark Master, remember? You're just a lowly adventurer, you aren't allowed to know my plans~

Hehe. I understand! I'd never let anyone know my plans when I was the Dark Master either.

[He grinned a little, rubbing the back of his head awkwardly.]

[Finishing up what he was doing, Malik pushed his chair back and climbed to his feet. He brushed his hands off casually, as if he'd really accomplished some great feat.]

I'm done. Let's go fix up the bed.

Un. We might as well get it over with. I'm not as tall as you and I still keep hitting my head... Maybe that's why I keep forgetting things.

[It was a lame joke, but hell... he was in a pretty low mood. This was such a shitty thing to do. Rifling through his things, he retrieved the staple gun, and headed into the bedroom.]

Excuses, excuses... [He lightly mumbled in good humour as he followed Ryou. Of course as soon as he saw that staple gun his mood dropped, expression growing tense.

He did not trust Ryou with that gun. And wait, didn't he hide it in the night table before they moved?! That fool must have snuck it back out when he wasn't looking...]

Be careful with that thing.

If you've got a better way to put it up, I'd hear it. I don't think you'd trust me with a hammer and nails, either, right? At least this is faster. Just please hold up the corners, and I'll do my best not to hit you.

Besides, if you're worried, you can try it yourself.

[He could always make him slip up and shoot himself in the hand.]

Feh...no, I don't trust you with anything like that.

[Malik eyed the gun thoughtfully at that offer. He...didn't really want to use it himself, but at least then he'd feel safer.

So, making his decision, he held a hand out for the device.]

You know what? I think I will use it.

Here. [He handed it over with a little trepidation. He knew Malik was coordinated, but did he really trust him with sharp objects near his hands? Oh well. Climbing onto the bed, he dutifully holds the stuff in place for Malik.]

Yeah, just don't move...

[Malik gripped the staple gun tightly in both hands, pressing it up against the first corner. He hesitated a moment before pulling the trigger, the loud THUNK of the staple going in making him start.]

Ah! [He forgot how loud this thing was! But, okay...it wasn't so bad. The thing barely even had any recoil, it was all bark and no bite. On to the next section, then...]

[Hm... with Malik holding it with both hands, that wasn't going to be useful. It wasn't like it was hard to use it with one hand, despite its size. He'd have to improvise. For now, he just moves as bidden, holding the fabric up and trying not to flinch at the sounds.]

It's not so bad, is it?

It's kind of fun, keh keh...

[He's going a bit faster now, but not so much so that he's endangering Ryou in any way. If anything, his "faster" is "normal speed".

After a couple minutes they're finished, and Malik's staple-free as he lowers his arms, staple gun still held fast between his hands.]

Phew... it's kind of unnerving being on the other end of this thing.

[Hopping down off the bed, he reached out to tug the staple gun from Malik's hands. With the other boy still holding onto it, it wasn't too hard to fumble it and put pressure on the trigger in just the wrong position...

THUNK-!

...or the right one, in this case.]

...eh?!

Hey, be--gaauuh!

[Malik knocked Ryou back and himself as well, curling up onto his side as he cringed at the stable that was now imbedded through the fabric of his jeans into his leg.

He kept hissing out the same word in between the occasional nonsenses sounds of pain.]

Xara xara xaraaaa...Aahhaa... [As much as it hurt, it did start to dull down after a minute. But even then there was an intense throb rippling out from the puncture wound, and his leg felt strangely hot.

At the very least it didn't seem to be bleeding much, if at all.]

M-Malik-kun! Calm down! I've stapled myself before, I can take the staple out.

[Pinning Malik's legs, he took a look at how bad it was. He couldn't see the actual wound, but it looked like it would be difficult to take it out carefully.]

Are you okay with me taking it out? It'll just hurt a little.

[With the initial seizing rush of pain gone, Malik managed to find his voice. He really only had one thing to say to Ryou as he braced one hand against his chest and shoved him back.]

You fucking idiot! Don't touch me!

Sorry... I didn't mean to do it, Malik-kun. It should come out really easily if you pull it.

[He didn't bother to give him the advice about following the path it came in.]

This is why I don't trust you with sharp objects! [He spat back bitterly, scooting himself back to get a better look at his leg. The staple had locked his pants against his leg, so he had no choice but to take it out like this...]

Ghh... [Malik reached out, grasping the staple between his nails and giving it a small tug--only to immediately recoil with a hiss of pain.]

Can you manage it?

[It's true, he shouldn't be trusted with sharp objects. He'd almost stabbed his own foot with his sword, once.]

Of course I can manage it--just get the hell off of me!

[Malik really wasn't sure if he could. Just touching it caused the pain to flare up, he can't even imagine trying to pull it out...]

... [Sigh.] It'll start bleeding a lot once it's out, so hold on!

[Slipping off of him, he goes to grab a glass, returning to sit beside him on the bed.]

We don't want to get the bed soaked, and the cold glass should soothe your leg a little. It'll go easier if it's taken out in one go, so do your best, okay?

... [Malik waited, expecting Ryou to come back with something to stop the blood, not a glass. He shot the boy an irritated look, his patience already well past its limit.]

You fool, what am I supposed to do with that? Where's the bandages?!

[Sorry, Ryou, but even Malik knew enough about first aid to know that one usually doesn't use a cup to stop bleeding.]

You're supposed to let it bleed for three minutes to force anything left in the wound out, so this should be enough to catch the blood. As to the first aid kit...

I keep a spare under the bed.
