[He didn't need much urging. Leaving the room, he headed straight for the nurse's office, and found it luckily empty. Finding what he wanted was relatively simple.

Malik had reacted pretty poorly to the painkillers he'd taken before, so he had a pretty good idea of just how low his tolerance was. Definitely not high-strength, then...

Aha. Stealing a packet of Benadryl, he headed back to the apartment to put his plan into motion.]

[Malik was back at the apartment, sitting at the counter and eating some leftover koshary. He seemed pretty content, even in the relative silence of their empty dorm room.

[Well, speak of the devil. The sight of him made his heart ache with guilt, and he hadn't even done anything yet. He smiled regardless, lifting a hand in a carefree wave.]

Good afternoon, Malik-kun! [Eh? He stared at the food. His motherly side was kind of concerned by Malik's lack of initiative.] Are you just eating leftovers? That doesn't seem like it'll be very filling.

Hey. [He greeted the boy with a nod, turning back to his food.]

It's enough. I'm not that hungry anyway. [He knew he'd be really hungry later after training, so he might as well save the effort of cooking until then...

That and Ryou wasn't home to cook when he'd been hungry. So, leftovers.]

Are you sure? I can make you something quick, if you have to be somewhere. It's not healthy to under-eat, you know?

[Ryou loved to cook. If Malik hadn't figured that out by now, that was his problem.

Nodding, he heads over to the fridge to grab some ingredients. Hm... It wouldn't take too long to whip up a decent vegan noodle bowl. That would do.

First thing was first, he needed to quickly marinade the tofu. As he stirs it in the bowl, he answers Malik almost absently.]

It didn't look like there was a lot there when I went out this morning. If I was wrong about that, I'll just make some for me and you can help yourself out of it.

There wasn't a lot, but enough for a small meal.

[He shrugged, going back to his koshary. Even if Ryou was cooking a fresh meal, he was still going to finish this... It was his favourite food, after all.]

I could go for more. Seeing you cook is making my appetite stir...

Alright! Just wait a few minutes.

[Soon, the smell of food cooking filled the room. Ryou contentedly prepared the noodles, adding ginger, coriander, and a bunch of vegetables to the mix. He almost forgot his plans in the process, he was having so much fun. But in the end, when Malik wasn't looking, he carefully crushed one of the Benadryl and mixed it into one of the bowls.]

Here we are! [He felt that worrying ache in his chest again, barely managing to push it down. Poor Malik. Giving Malik his bowl, he sat down to tuck into his own. Mm, delicious betrayal... ]

It smells good... But I expected nothing less from you, Ryou. [Leaving the thanks at that, and without suspecting a thing, Malik took the bowl from Ryou and started to eat. He'd finished his koshary by now, but a bowl of soup wouldn't be hard to fit.

Mmmm, and it even tasted as good as it smelled.]

Ehe, thanks. I'm used to eating alone, but it's more fun cooking for more than just me.

[Dammit, Malik, did you have to choose now to be friendly? He scoffed down the food hurriedly. He felt like a total bastard. This was such an underhanded thing to do. And for what? To try to make himself stronger? What kind of value could be in this kind of betrayal? He knew the thief king was just using him to gain this object that Malik valued so much. But that guy was kind of trusting, if he thought it would be so easy.

Please, he thought to himself, miserably, let this work out for the best.]

[Malik must have been hungrier than he thought, because his bowl is receding quickly.]

You act like we've never eaten a meal together. [He took a moment to look up at Ryou and smirk, almost teasing.]

Heheh. That's just on occasion, though! It's not like it's a regular thing.

[He kept smiling, even while that teasing smirk seemed to drive the knife in deeper. Maybe he should back out. Maybe he should just leave it. Malik wouldn't come to any harm passed out in the corridor.

But this was his chance. If he could get the Rod to work, he could force the guy to talk, and then return it to Malik. If not, there was a good chance the thief king couldn't get it to work either. Wasn't it better to have it in the hands of someone who couldn't use it?

No, he had to stop thinking about it. He couldn't repress the thoughts from his memory if he couldn't get control of his mind.]

Well, it's not like you ever go, "Hey, Malik-kun, let's have dinner!" [His tone is a little mocking, but it seems lighthearted.]

But then again, I guess I eat with Bakura more than you.

[Mm, too bad, his soup was almost finished now.]
