[He kept smiling, even while that teasing smirk seemed to drive the knife in deeper. Maybe he should back out. Maybe he should just leave it. Malik wouldn't come to any harm passed out in the corridor.
But this was his chance. If he could get the Rod to work, he could force the guy to talk, and then return it to Malik. If not, there was a good chance the thief king couldn't get it to work either. Wasn't it better to have it in the hands of someone who couldn't use it?
No, he had to stop thinking about it. He couldn't repress the thoughts from his memory if he couldn't get control of his mind.]

But then again, I guess I eat with Bakura more than you.
[Mm, too bad, his soup was almost finished now.]
no subject
If you wanted, we could start having a regular afternoon meal, like a family. But I doubt that'd interest you much.
no subject
[Malik offered a shrug.] And I wouldn't mind it. I like to plan out my day, so it wouldn't be hard to accommodate.
no subject
I'd like that. [He rose up to go get himself a drink, sipping at it. Dammit, Malik... stop reminding him you're not always an asshole.
He couldn't go through with this. There was no way. Corrupting his soul wasn't worth it if it cost Malik what little happiness he had.]
I know that you two are close, but is it really that serious between you two? Should I be preparing wedding speeches?
[The joke was more to cover his change of mood than anything else.]
no subject
Fool... [For Ryou to say something like that... That was the last thing on his mind!] What do you take me for? I'm not interested in something so insignificant!
no subject
Why are you so embarrassed, Malik-kun~? Is it because you really want him to get down on one knee for you?
no subject
What do "blowjobs" have to do with marriage?
no subject
T-t-that's not what I was talking about! [Flaaaail] When you propose to someone, you're meant to go down on one knee! That's how they do it in books all the time!
no subject
[Scoff!] But apparently you have.
no subject
[Jeez, Malik, there were more books out there than just recipe books and motorcycle books, you know!]
I wouldn't be reading books about marriage anyway. It's not in my interests.
no subject
[He's had a lot more time to read here than he has the last few years, but even then he doesn't venture past non-fiction.]
Keh keh, and weren't you the one bringing it up in the first place, Ryou? I'm not buying your disinterest...
no subject
H-hey! That's not true! Guys can't get married anyway, so it's not like it was serious! One of us would have to pretend to be a girl or something.
And I don't think the spirit would do that for anyone.
no subject
You'd be surprised what he'll do with the right incentive. I got him to call me "Malik-sama" for a week once.
no subject
[Sitting down, he rested his head on his arms.]
I don't want girls fawning all over him for being cute.
no subject
[Malik toyed with his spoon idly.] If I wanted to date a woman, I'd find a woman!
[Surprisingly bit darker than before.] And if anyone tried fawning over him...I'd make them regret it.
no subject
I-is that right...? But you couldn't do that, you know? It's annoying, but back at home, girls used to fawn over me all the time. Can you imagine how much they'd fawn over him? He's so much more confident than me, so they'd probably be all over him.
no subject
Either way, he sounds amused again, losing that darkness to his voice.]
If they were fawning over you, I have a feeling it wasn't "confidence" they were after.
no subject
You're kind of mistaken, Malik-kun... that shyness isn't something that anyone would see normally. For the most part, back then, I kept up a pretty disinterested facade. I kept trying to push people away for a long time, but people kept trying to get close anyway. It was only the people that got close to me that saw that shyness, back then.
no subject
[Sigh. Malik closed his eyes a moment, squeezing the lids together as if that would will his tiredness away. It really had hit him out of nowhere...how strange.]
no subject
no subject
[He's totally unaffected by the insult to his boyfriend.]
no subject
So why would you even want to spend time with him, if he's such a jerk?
no subject
[Dismissively, less due to disinterest and more due to the growing heaviness of his eyes.] It's hard to explain, and I don't really feel like bothering.
no subject
[Surprisingly, he doesn't feel guilty at all about drugging him. Even though it was annoying, since they were in the middle of talking. Oh well.]
I'll ask you more about it later, then, when you're in the mood.
