Hm...? [Ryou came back over, leaning over to stare at Malik with a bright smile. Now that his decision had been made, the relief was setting in.]

...? [He stared a moment, expression easing down from furious embarrassment to a wry look of confusion.]

I wouldn't be reading books about marriage anyway. It's not in my interests.

I read plenty! I just don't read anything that involves marriage.

[He's had a lot more time to read here than he has the last few years, but even then he doesn't venture past non-fiction.]

Keh keh, and weren't you the one bringing it up in the first place, Ryou? I'm not buying your disinterest...

[Sitting down, he rested his head on his arms.]

Ugh, no. I don't have any interest in seeing him, or you in a dress.

[Malik toyed with his spoon idly.] If I wanted to date a woman, I'd find a woman!

[Surprisingly bit darker than before.] And if anyone tried fawning over him...I'd make them regret it.

[A chill went down his spine suddenly.]

I-is that right...? But you couldn't do that, you know? It's annoying, but back at home, girls used to fawn over me all the time. Can you imagine how much they'd fawn over him? He's so much more confident than me, so they'd probably be all over him.

[Odd...he was feeling a bit tired. Maybe he ate too much?

Either way, he sounds amused again, losing that darkness to his voice.]

If they were fawning over you, I have a feeling it wasn't "confidence" they were after.

[Shaking his head, he sipped at his drink again.]

You're kind of mistaken, Malik-kun... that shyness isn't something that anyone would see normally. For the most part, back then, I kept up a pretty disinterested facade. I kept trying to push people away for a long time, but people kept trying to get close anyway. It was only the people that got close to me that saw that shyness, back then.

Feh...it still wasn't confidence they were after. Acting disinterested and acting like Bakura are two completely different things.

[Sigh. Malik closed his eyes a moment, squeezing the lids together as if that would will his tiredness away. It really had hit him out of nowhere...how strange.]

I guess that's true... It's really kind of strange to me that people would find him attractive at all. I mean, I know he's a smooth talker, but isn't he kind of... [He braces himself, forcing the term out.] "a dick"?

[He's totally unaffected by the insult to his boyfriend.]

He's not like that all the time, at least not towards me...and even when he is, it can be kind of fun. Depending.

[Dismissively, less due to disinterest and more due to the growing heaviness of his eyes.] It's hard to explain, and I don't really feel like bothering.

...? You sound tired. Maybe I shouldn't have pressured you to eat more after all.

[Surprisingly, he doesn't feel guilty at all about drugging him. Even though it was annoying, since they were in the middle of talking. Oh well.]
