E-eh...? [He was too startled by the words to even react to the bone. Didn't the guy say it was over if he failed? Why was he expecting him to agree to do something worse?]

Failure meant I'd end our lessons. But this is far worse than failure--it's betrayal! [He grabbed Ryou's neck, running his fingers harshly against that wound.]

Ow-! [He yelped, his body tensing as pain sparked from the rough touch. What was this guy thinking-?! He was going to reopen it if he kept doing that! It wasn't like it was a healed wound, after all. It had only been a day.

And having that guy's fingers anywhere near his throat was frankly terrifying.]

[Chuckling, Bakura leaned in, running his tongue over that wound.]

E-eh- w-w-what are you doing-?!

[He squirmed, trying to jerk away. It was a weird feeling, and disturbingly intimate. The sting of that rough tongue rubbing against the edges of the knife wound sent ripples of pain through his throat. He couldn't breathe for a second or two, the breath seeming to be obstructed and caught in his tightened throat. The weirdest part was that the pain wasn't exactly terrible. His face felt like it was burning. How chilling... why was it feeling pleasant, too? It was almost enough to distract him from the words.

Hurt one of his friends...? He wanted him to do something like that-?!]

Tasting you...

[Bakura briefly reveled in his Ba's squirming and hitched breath, tasting the blood carefully on his tongue before pulling back and licking his lips like a hungry, wild animal.]

I want you to hurt one of your friends, and as proof, I want you to bring me back a cup of their blood and a slice of flesh! GYAHAHAHA! [It was all he could take, not to claw at that wound on the boy's neck, make it bleed, and taste it as he squirmed.]

I know what your blood tastes like, Ba, you can't fool me now!

[WHAT THE FUCK WAS WRONG WITH THIS GUY?!]

R-right! A-a-and if I don't-?

[He didn't want to know, not really. His face was on fire and he brought a hand up to cover the wound without thinking.]

[He leaned in, whispering darkly against Ryou's ear.] I'll kill your friend in front of you...

[Ryou's mind went white at those words. Kill one of his friends? Even if they came back, they'd suffer terribly under this guy's hands. Despite his terror, there was a surge of rage underneath. That jerk...! No, that wasn't strong enough.]

Bastard... [The word was growled out despite the fear that laced every cell in his body. It came out harsher than he expected, and for a moment he had the oddest thought of was that the spirit? before realizing it was his voice. That was right... he couldn't blame everything on the spirit. This was his anger, rarely rising as it was.]

I get the picture.

[An earnest whisper came, unfitting that harsh demeanor.] Such anger...I'm proud of you, Ba.

[He stepped back, then casually walked back over to his nest to take a seat. Sitting there he pulled out a handful of bear teeth, holes dug into each one from when he'd started, and forgotten to finish, making a necklace.]

Go on, then! Your time limit isn't as generous as before--I want to see your work by tonight!

[Proud of him...? What a stupid thought. If he'd grabbed for the spirit's knife and plunged it into this guy's throat, would he still be proud of him?! No, that was a foolish thought. This guy had years of training on him and even if he'd been close enough to try it, he'd have been stopped in a heartbeat. On top of that, even if he was threatening his friends, killing someone via self-sacrifice - like he'd tried to do in the game of darkness - wasn't the same as killing someone with your own hands. He'd never bring himself to do it.

His legs felt shaky, and it was all he could do not to just sink to his knees. Hurt one of his friends, or watch them die horribly... the choice was obvious. Without a word, he turned his back on the thief and left the room. It was sometimes days between the times he saw his friends. But he didn't have days.

It would have to be Malik. He was the only one that was consistently there.

Dammit... He'd have to make it up to Malik. Shower him with kindness for a while.]

[When Ryou got back, Malik was on "break" from practice, fiddling with their Monster World set and putting the various pieces into arbitrary places. Since they'd moved to a new apartment he hadn't actually put the thing properly back together.]

[First thing was first. He needed to cover up the wound to his neck again. Explaining this would be a pain.]

Can you help me out in a minute or two? I wanted to get the bed sorted out properly, but I can't do it by myself.

Hey. [He blinked, looking up from the set. Ryou's sudden request and even more sudden departure threw him off, and he just sat there a moment before calling back.]

Yeah, sure. I already hit my head on the stupid thing once today...

Sorry, if it's sudden! I've been meaning to ask since we moved, but I keep forgetting. Maybe I should start writing lists of things to do.

[Washing out the wound stung, but it felt a lot better once he'd finished, sterilized it and bandaged it up. Ugh, he couldn't believe that guy... What a creeper. When he came out, he quickly disappeared into the bedroom to change his shirt for one with a higher collar, to hide it. It wouldn't last long, but he didn't feel like explaining.

Once that was done, he reappeared in the living room.]

[Finishing up what he was doing, Malik pushed his chair back and climbed to his feet. He brushed his hands off casually, as if he'd really accomplished some great feat.]

[It was a lame joke, but hell... he was in a pretty low mood. This was such a shitty thing to do. Rifling through his things, he retrieved the staple gun, and headed into the bedroom.]

Excuses, excuses... [He lightly mumbled in good humour as he followed Ryou. Of course as soon as he saw that staple gun his mood dropped, expression growing tense.

He did not trust Ryou with that gun. And wait, didn't he hide it in the night table before they moved?! That fool must have snuck it back out when he wasn't looking...]
