Are there not even any martial arts tournaments?

Nothing major. There's a few rare ones you see on movies and you can visit small ones every so often, but martial arts isn't really that common a thing.

[Now card games, on the other hand...]

Hey... I think that's the same kinda card that the one guy had!

This is Duel Monsters. It's one of many games we play and the most popular. Whoever it is you met before must be a duelist; you should probably ask them for details if you're interested.

[Bakura doesn't have the patience for teaching people jack shit.]

Yeah, I probably should go find him. He was trying to teach me when we couldn't understand anything each other was saying! He was talking the same garbled language you were, too, so it was even worse.

That was probably Yugi-kun. Our very own "Duel King".

Yugikun? That's a... really weird name.

Uh... he had some kind of upside down arrow thing that felt really hollow. And he was wearing a lot of leather.

Was that him?

...heh. [He's not even going to correct him. That amuses him too much.]

The Millennium Puzzle is a Pyramid, not an arrow. But that's him.

Oh! ...yeah, I guess it did look like one of those, now that I think about it. I just hadn't really seen any before.

I guess the way it's made, it'd have to be hollow or it'd be really heavy... though it and that Ring thing of yours still look pretty heavy for normal people to wear anyway!

The Puzzle is literally that; it's made of a bunch of pieces that fit together. That guy's the only one who can wear it. It chose him.

[Yeah, they agreed it was the same for them both, but that just really needs to commented on. A puzzle chose him? What the fuck man.]

Um, you said he was a king? A king of what?

Duelists. [He waves the card at him again.] He won a big tournament back at Duelist Kingdom and now he's pretty much the top duelist there is.

...So he's a king... because he won a game of cards?

Not a game. A tournament. They invited the top duelists of the world to compete and he won. He even defeated the creator of the game!

So he became the king.

But because of a card game thing.

That's right! We don't have many martial arts tournaments around, but Duel Monsters tournaments are far more common.

[He licks his lips, smiling. Ah well... he'll help the kid out just this once...]

It's not like he got anything out of it but money and prestige, anyway.
