[He follows him with an amused bark of laughter, heading out into the hall.]

[Malik has nothing more to say on that, so he'll just be the one leading Bakura down the hall.]

It's the same as before. We just follow the hall down until we get to the front doors.

Tch. It's confusing, switching sides of the building.

[Despite that muttered complaint, he follows Malik, falling into step beside him.]

But you know, Ryou is apparently the reincarnation of part of my soul. It's only natural that he might have the same tastes.

...What? What made you come to that conclusion? I mean, your past self and Ryou do look a lot, but still...it seems too convenient.

[Then again, with Kaiba and Yugi...reincarnation seemed to be nothing but convenient at times.]

He's the one that brought it up, actually. I guess being from that time means you remember the mythology better.

But I've never found a body in three thousand years that fits so well. Between the timing, the similarities, and the way his body and this one both feel... it's pretty likely. Even their voices are pretty similar. It's too many coincidences.

[He shakes his head carelessly.]

At any rate, he's only part of me. Since the part that retains the personality was sealed in this thing... he's little more than a remnant of the past.

...I guess there's a point where it's so convenient, it can't be a coincidence.

[He inclines his head a bit, thinking back on some of the things he'd had to read back in the tomb.]

They say people who were close in a past life will be close in ones thereafter as well. It makes sense that Ryou would be around Yugi and Kaiba, if you believe in that.

Heh heh... except our relationships are quite the opposite from one another. How odd things become! From enemies to friends in just three millennia.

[His voice filled with amusement, he looks away thoughtfully.]

We're never really guaranteed to be the same person in our next lives. [He smirks, giving Bakura a sly look. Malik was knowledgeable on the subject, even if he had little interest in it.]

The Akh is rarely reincarnated, and the Akh of criminals don't have a chance at all.

You're lucky you were sealed in the Ring. [He looks away, expression becoming pensive.] We wouldn't have met otherwise.

Yeah... I'm aware. My soul would have been consumed otherwise. In a way, this prison became a true blessing.

[He doesn't care how soft that sounds.]

... [Even if Bakura wasn't referring to them meeting, the words still stirred Malik inside in a way only Bakura had managed of late.

He doesn't have anything else to say on their way down the halls, and unless Bakura speaks up, he'll remain silent.]

[He opens the doors, bowing at the waist mockingly.]

Tch... [That snaps Malik out of his silence.] You keep joking like that, and I'll start expecting you to do it seriously.

[He briskly walks past Bakura and through the double doors into the sunshine.]

Which part, the pet names or the bowing? Because it doesn't bother me if you want me to call you cute nicknames... though I didn't think you were the type.

[Following him out, he closes his eyes, feeling the heat of the sun against his pale skin. How warm...]

The only cute nickname I like is "Malik-sama"~.

[Malik's glad he's wearing sandals, because even with them on he can feel the heat of the sand on him.

Not in a million years! You'd have to make it very worth my while for me to even consider saying that seriously.

[Bakura, on the other hand, just takes his shoes and socks off without hesitation, not minding the burning of the sand.]

What, is my company not enough? Keh keh...

[Malik starts out onto the sand, heading for nice shaded spot near the shore.]

Hahaha! Your company is good, but not nearly enough to get that kind of name from me!

[Wriggling his toes curiously at the feel of the sand, he follows, sitting on part of the towel when it's laid out.]

Ohh? Then what would it take, Bakura?

[Malik plops down next to his partner, kicking his sandals off and allowing his feet to sink into the cooler sand.]

[Bakura moves to lie on his stomach, propped up on his elbows, looking for all the world like a normal teenager right now, the way he's playing with the sand. His feet absently kick in the air behind him.]

Why would I tell you that? It's no fun if you can figure me out too easily!

Hmhmhm, well you did tell me one thing...that there's a way to do it!

[He reaches out with one hand, running his fingers through that mess of soft, white hair.

[A pleased shiver runs down his spine. Casual affection like this is always so nice. Odd, how such a human thing can make him feel at ease.]

Ahah, even I can be bought! The problem is figuring out the price. Getting terms like that out of me isn't easy, you know!

It's either a high price, or an incredibly petty one, knowing you...

[Malik keeps playing with the other boy's hair, softly and idly. It's not something he does that often, but if they've already resigned themselves to the methods of a "date", he didn't see why he should hold back.]

[He hums in contentment, relishing the idle playfulness.]

Could be either... Could be both. Could be a pretty cheap price but one that you'd never think of. Good luck figuring it out!

I'll figure it out one day. ...Even if I have to force it out of you.

[Malik lowers his hand, allowing it to rest on the small of Bakura's back.

It was nice, sitting around like this...he really did enjoy Bakura's company.]

Feel free to try! It's not that easy to get information out of me.

[Despite his words, his voice is cheerful, and the hand on his back just makes him relax further. So this is why people enjoy this sort of thing. It really is comfortable, lying around and talking like this. He doesn't want to spoil it like he usually does.

Turning his head, he flashes Malik a broad grin.]

You picked a good spot. It's warm here, but not warm enough that it's irritating.
