[Wriggling his toes curiously at the feel of the sand, he follows, sitting on part of the towel when it's laid out.]

[Malik plops down next to his partner, kicking his sandals off and allowing his feet to sink into the cooler sand.]

[Bakura moves to lie on his stomach, propped up on his elbows, looking for all the world like a normal teenager right now, the way he's playing with the sand. His feet absently kick in the air behind him.]

Why would I tell you that? It's no fun if you can figure me out too easily!

Hmhmhm, well you did tell me one thing...that there's a way to do it!

[He reaches out with one hand, running his fingers through that mess of soft, white hair.

[A pleased shiver runs down his spine. Casual affection like this is always so nice. Odd, how such a human thing can make him feel at ease.]

Ahah, even I can be bought! The problem is figuring out the price. Getting terms like that out of me isn't easy, you know!

[Malik keeps playing with the other boy's hair, softly and idly. It's not something he does that often, but if they've already resigned themselves to the methods of a "date", he didn't see why he should hold back.]

[He hums in contentment, relishing the idle playfulness.]

[Malik lowers his hand, allowing it to rest on the small of Bakura's back.

It was nice, sitting around like this...he really did enjoy Bakura's company.]

[Despite his words, his voice is cheerful, and the hand on his back just makes him relax further. So this is why people enjoy this sort of thing. It really is comfortable, lying around and talking like this. He doesn't want to spoil it like he usually does.

Turning his head, he flashes Malik a broad grin.]

You picked a good spot. It's warm here, but not warm enough that it's irritating.

Hhf. [Malik eventually flops down besides Bakura, his hair splaying flat against the sand as he rests his hands over his stomach.

Seeing the other boy's grin, he smiles pleasedly and closes his eyes.]

If there's anything I know how to do, it's how to be comfortable. It's a luxury I've gotten used to.

...man. I'm relaxed enough that I can't even think of a snide comeback.

[Shifting, he lies on his side, head propped up by his hand to look over the relaxed form of his partner. It's hardly an unpleasant sight.]

Ohh? I never thought I'd see the day!

[Malik peeks one eye open so he can still watch Bakura's reaction to that. Too bad he suddenly didn't feel like moving. This really was comfortable.]

Me either! Clearly I must be coming down with something.

[He grins widely, dusting the sand off of his hands onto his trousers before reaching out to twirl a lock of Malik's hair around his fingers.]

That or I'm just in too good a mood.

Is it really that easy to please you? [The comment is meant to be endearing, even with the sarcasm it holds. Malik really does enjoy Bakura when he's like this. Having his hair played with was a new one, but he embraced it just the same.

This affection...it was something he hadn't felt in years, and even then it had only ever been family. It wasn't quite like this.]

[Embolded by Malik's lack of rejection, he leisurely threads his fingers into Malik's hair, softly stroking his fingers through it.]

Heheh... I'm a simple man deep down! Simple pleasures like this... they're good, somehow. Though I'd never have bothered to relax like this in the past, with you it's not boring at all. It feels kind of natural.

Ah-- [Malik just looks over, utterly shocked that he was being laughed at. A-after he said something like that...!]

[It was mortifying. He was mad too, but the embarrassment override it entirely.

Malik turns away in a huff, covering the lower half of his face with a hand as he tried to will away the burning of his cheeks with a scowl.]

Idiot...you're an idiot!

[Oops. He hadn't meant to burst out laughing like that. But it was too cute. Leaning over, he presses his lips to Malik's ear, speaking words meant just for him. It didn't matter if there was nobody else around. These were private words.]

But you know... It doesn't matter if it was fate or not. I'm happy I met you, either way.

I may hate the Gods... but I'll thank them for allowing me to meet you.

[Those words ease him a bit, a warmth building in his chest in response.]

Now you say that...you're so annoying.

[It's times like this he wonders why he allows himself to feel this way. He should be concentrating on his revenge, his plans...

But here he was, lying with Bakura on the beach and talking about how he felt they were fated to meet.]

I can't believe I let you of all people make me feel this way.

[A soft chuckle is his answer before Bakura lets his head rest beside Malik's, rolling over onto his back to stare up at the sky. 'Let' him, the boy says. Like he's doing anything in particular to make Malik feel the way he is. No, the truth is...]

People will always be slaves to their emotions.

[It's spoken softly, thoughtfully.]

Truthfully, this closeness terrified me from the start. I didn't know if I wanted to push you away and flee or never let you go again. It feels like it softens me too much. Like I'm becoming more 'human' the more time I spend with you.

But...

[He lifts a hand, studying the way the light falls through it.]

You're more important to me now than I expected you to become. I would regret it too much if I fled out of cowardice. So I promised that I'd enjoy it to the fullest while I had it. After all, time is endless. I'd rather spend what time I have with you now.

I'll always have time to accomplish my goals... but even when you're irritating, it feels like I never have enough time to spend with you.

[Those words were like a painful warmth wrapping around him, inescapable as they drew him in. For as cool as he would act around Bakura at times, it was more often than not that he was letting himself go.

It felt good, so he embraced it. If it had felt bad...he'd have simply ignored it!]

I'm glad you didn't push me away... [What else could he say? That was a loaded confession, and the more he thought about it, the more he just smiled and allowed himself to appreciate it.]

Bakura... [He rolls over, drawing his arm across Bakura's chest and resting his cheek affectionately against him. His other arm loops through Bakura's and grips it loosely.] You're seriously one of the most infuriating people I know, but even then...I made that oath with you. I like spending time with you.
